In this two-part workshop, participants will have an opportunity to discuss their experiences, areas of concern, and triumphs in managing their personal lives or professional roles over the past few years. This dialogue via a question prompt exchange will be guided by educator Christine Keller, who will apply concepts in Positive Psychology and the strengths and values that enable individuals, organizations, schools, and overall communities to thrive to address burnout and other vicarious trauma.

Positive Psychology is “a branch of psychology focused on character strengths and behaviors that allow individuals to build a life of meaning and purpose—to move beyond surviving to flourishing” (Martin Seligman, Author of Learned Optimism, considered to be the father of the field of Positive Psychology). The purpose, basic framework, and methods used in Positive Psychology will be explored including an understanding of Learned Optimism vs. Learned Helplessness, yielding positive outcomes despite circumstances. An action item and an associated worksheet will be selected to execute between sessions to experience the results, which will be discussed during the second session.
