Our Relationship with Food
June 27 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

We are excited to have Debra Spector, MS, RDN, CDN, who is a Registered and Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist, with us at Sangha Education this season.
Debra will utilize her expertise to teach teens and young adults about “Our Relationship with Food,” which impacts all of us differently. We will learn to relate to typical vs. disordered eating and how an eating disorder doesn’t “have a look” a certain way. In addition, helping us to understand that foods aren’t necessarily “good” or “bad”. Our young people will be happy to learn that there is a way to make “all foods fit” and that we can develop our relationship with food.
Following Debra’s workshop, we will embark on a surprise food sampling to expand our exposure to food with something for everyone (including gluten-free options). We look forward to young people asking questions and sharing their thoughts about what they have learned while enjoying time with peers. More about our guest speaker… Debra Spector has a private practice on Long Island, NY (est. 1990) where she specializes in eating disorders and other clinical disease states. An important element of her practice is the philosophy of the anti-diet movement and body size acceptance. She is thrilled that her award-winning book: “The Things I’ve Seen People Do With and Without Food” has helped people gain a better understanding of the internal struggles that many who have eating disorders face and she continues to look forward to assisting our local community.
