We welcome you to the FIRST volunteer days at Sangha Education Center’s Meadow Farm! As we move forward with nature-based projects that are embedded into several of our programs, we will open up volunteer days to the local Long Island community in addition to our program participants, their families, friends and schools.
Once again, the input of our young people has directed their learning based on interest areas which we will explore this month. We will participate in a tour of Tanglewood Preserve at the Center for Science, Teaching and Learning in Rockville Center. We were just informed that the Sweetbriar Nature Center's Annual Festival will either be cancelled or postponed. BUT, we will still be visiting Sweetbriar with our Project Stewardship participants. Week 1 of Summer at the Sangha includes workshops on habitats, land and microbes, history, forest bathing, planting and totem pole creation.
Week 2 of Summer at the Sangha includes workshops on Long Island water history, sea life, environmental justice, water wellness, medicine wheel gardens, and totem pole creation.
Week 3 of Summer at the Sangha includes workshops on Dungeons and Dragons, pollinators, forest bathing, gardening, and totem pole creation.
Week 4 of Summer at the Sangha includes workshops on Long Island animal identification, Malcolm House, compost bins, and native drumming.
