We are excited to introduce a special Nature & Wellness Connections water color art series with our community partner, Oksana Danziger, who has offered a range of nature art workshops with us for all to learn from, build skills around, and enjoy together. This program is open to adult commumity members and families – all ages and abilities. Oksana has been a yoga instructor, textile designer, and teacher for over twenty years. Yoga and meditation have had a great impact on expanding her creativity. She teaches at the Nassau Museum of Art, Art Guild of Port Washington, and conducts workshops at L.I. libraries and schools.
In Art from the Heart, participants will experience pure connection with their inner selves and express personal creativity through painting and watercolor. Watercolor is a very spontaneous technique. Oftentimes, one has to loosen up on control and “go with the flow.” We begin with simple breathing exercises, followed by a visual meditation where we concentrate on holding an image in our mind after looking at the subject for some time, trying to absorb all of the details, color, and even smell of the flower we are going paint. We progress to some painting exercises where we learn various techniques and explore color mixing, coming up with a color palette for our project. Painting a flower is our final step; choosing a technique, adding details and creating a beautiful flower or flowers.
Oksana will bring some materials to share but recommends participants purchase and bring Canson Paper 11×8.5, Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Paint Set, and Grace Art Watercolor Brush Set.
Registration is for all 5 sessions. Please bring supplies listed above.
