SUMMARY:Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) for Writing [OLDER STUDENTS]
DESCRIPTION:Chava Blitzer has been teaching SRSD to assist students develop thinking and writing skills for several years and is offering an 8-week instructional services program on Wednesday evenings during March and April at Sangha Education Center for all ages and ability levels broken into small groups. \n\n\n\nMarch Dates: 3\, 10\, 17\, 24 – April Dates: 7\, 14\, 21\, 28 (attending all sessions required) \n\n\n\nSelf-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) for Writing has the strongest evidence-base of all researched writing approaches. SRSD was developed by Harris & Graham and has been used for over 35 years to guide students with learning differences and disabilities such as Dyslexia/Dysgraphia. Students view “exemplar” texts as samples and are guided in scaffolding the writing skills over time using templates and mnemonics so they may gradually be empowered in writing and assessing their own work towards continued writing progress.SRSD uses a 6-stage gradual release framework which includes: Task Analysis\, Goal Setting\, Task Management\, Self-Evaluation\, Self-Reinforcement and Reflection. SRSD is not a program; it is a set of practices that develop the self-regulation students need to be in charge of their literacy lives. And\, SRSD offers practical strategies to help readers and writers strengthen their ability to learn in social contexts\, be strategic\, engage in purposeful discovery and become independent thinkers. \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n \n \n \n 8-Session Older Registration—3/3-4/28/21\n \n $250.00\n \n Add to cart

SUMMARY:Amateur Observer's Society
DESCRIPTION:Join our Project Stewardship group as we participate with the Amateur Observers’ Society of New York (AOSNY) for their December meeting via Zoom. AOSNY was established in 1965 as a means for astronomy enthusiasts of all ages to meet together\, provide astronomy resources and educate the public. They offer numerous stargazing activities and are involved with reducing the light pollution problem on Long Island and throughout NYS. Members own telescopes of all types and sizes and are eager to enable others to observe the night sky\, embark on celestial photography and pursue astronomy interests. We look forward to learning from AOSNY members this Fall and to embarking on a sky gazing “Night of Astronomy” with them in the Spring. \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Project Stewardship program\, please register using the “Member” registration below.
