SUMMARY:Positive Psychology for Heart & Mind – Part 2 - POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Katrina Wright on Unsplash\n\n\n\nIn this two-part workshop\, participants will have an opportunity to discuss their experiences\, areas of concern\, and triumphs in managing their personal lives or professional roles over the past few years. This dialogue exchange and interactive presentation will be guided by educator/adjunct professor Christine Keller\, M.A.\, M.S.Ed.\, who will apply concepts in Positive Psychology and the goals and values that enable individuals\, organizations\, schools\, and overall communities to thrive and address burnout and other vicarious trauma. \n\n\n\nPositive Psychology is “a branch of psychology focused on character strengths and behaviors that allow individuals to build a life of meaning and purpose—to move beyond surviving to flourishing” (Martin Seligman\, Author of Learned Optimism\, considered to be the father of the field of Positive Psychology). The purpose\, basic framework\, and methods used in Positive Psychology will be explored\, including an understanding of Learned Optimism vs. Learned Helplessness\, yielding positive outcomes despite circumstances. Concepts in Positive Psychology have also been influenced by eastern philosophy related to Sukkha (happiness) and Dukkha (suffering)\, which will be expanded upon to provide clarity in enabling peace of mind for self and others. \n\n\n\nA take-home exercise will be provided to reflect\, connect\, reduce stress\, and build resilience between sessions. And also to expand compassion and develop insight. Experiences will be discussed during the second session. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nVirtual Event via Zoom. Link will be provided closer to event date. \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Member Registration\n \n $0.00\n \n Add to cart\n \n \n \n \n Standard Registration\n \n $20.00\n \n Add to cart

SUMMARY:Direct Support for Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) “Bumps in the Road"
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Jeremy McKnight on Unsplash\n\n\n\nCollaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS)\, developed by Dr. Ross Greene\, enables adults to work with young people to solve problems and build skills\, minimizing challenging behavior. \n\n\n\nHave you tried using Collaborative & Proactive Solutions with your child or student and run into “bumps in the road”? Maybe your child/student had difficulty communicating or could not explain what was making it hard for them to meet an expectation. Maybe no one could come up with a mutually satisfactory solution to a problem situation. OR maybe as a parent or educator\, you have been struggling with using Plan B (the problem-solving process) and C (setting an expectation aside for the moment while working on other problem situation) instead of using Plan A (which we know is not typically successful). Dr. Lisa LoPinto can help and support your current efforts in using the CPS model. \n\n\n\nIf you haven’t used CPS before\, no worries… In either case\, come and bring the problem situations you are experiencing with your child/student and we can delve into them using the CPS framework. We will accept questions ahead of time (please submit the ALSUP and related questions via e-mail: info@sanghacenter.org). We look forward to providing guidance and enabling more calm and connection within your family or school setting as everyone learns how to build skills and solve problems together. \n\n\n\nDr. LoPinto is a clinical psychologist in private practice who also offers CPS family skills training.  She is a certified CPS provider/trainer who consults with\, trains and offers school district supervisions in the CPS approach.  Christine Keller has attended CPS advanced training\, established the Community Support Group in 2008 and utilizes CPS in her work with young people at Sangha Education Center. SUMMARY:Kids Who Fall Through the Cracks
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Simon Rae on Unsplash\n\n\n\nThis interactive presentation challenges the one-size-fits-all approach to learning and behavior. We will discuss Kids Who Fall Through The Cracks and the importance of “whole-child” practices that enables students to find personal meaning in learning\, grow at their developmental pace\, and cultivate a feeling of self-worth for who they are and how they learn. Attendees will be taught how to initiate skill building with their young people\, gain access to educational tools that customize the learning and production process\, and participate in a Universal Design for Learning environment where all learners can flourish. Four main components towards supporting and educating the whole-learner include environment\, community\, exposure and opportunity and use both direct and indirect teaching methods. This is an open forum to answer questions and to guide parents and professionals. \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Community Support Group\, please register using the “Member” registration below. SUMMARY:CPS Plans\, Steps & Self-Care
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our Community Support Group this month with Dr. Lisa LoPinto who will review the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) approach – Plans and Steps in relation to Self-Care! CPS was developed by Dr. Ross W. Greene to assist families and schools in working with young people to solve problems and build skills\, minimizing challenging behavior.  The CPS Plans and Steps provide a framework to not take on more than anyone can handle. Selecting specific problems situations to address over others involves personal priorities.  And “Plan C’ing” other problems or putting them on-hold for the time-being\, provides room for everyone to take care of themselves while still moving forward with problem solving.  Whether it be during the COVID-19 pandemic or beyond\, it is helpful to learn how to work together towards common goals as we navigate difficult experiences. And we will introduce the field Positive Psychology\, delving deeper at our next Community Support Group meeting\, to introduce opportunities to move away from learned helplessness to learned optimism and improve resilience which an be combined with and/or complement the CPS approach. This is an open forum to answer questions and address issues of importance to attendees. Parents and professional as well as high school or college students welcome! Dr. LoPinto is a clinical psychologist in private practice who also offers a 10-week CPS Parent Skills classes seasonally.  She is a certified CPS provider/trainer who consults with\, trains and offers school district supervisions in the CPS approach.NOTE: We have moved “Kids Who Fall Through the Cracks” to September. And we will be doing a full group meeting in May about moving from learned helplessness to learned optimism based on tips from the field of Positive Psychology. \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Community Support Group\, please register using the “Member” registration below.
