This is a two-part event\, the second session taking place today. \n\n\n\nOksana has already introduced us to the history of Nuno Felting (some information is provided below). And during our first session\, participants made creative and decorative flowers as Mother’s Day gifts\, an offering to those who do so much to care for our well-being. Our young people have enjoyed collaborating\, sharing artistic ideas with one another\, following directions and guiding or being guided by peers. And then collaborate on assembly\, installation\, and connectivity of one (or more\, depending on complexity and time) of the three kits. We will set up stations for teams to play specific parts in the building process and then come together in the end to enable the different parts to form a working model. \n\n\n\nCome take part in this fun science adventure and build collaboration\, organization\, and problem solving skills while enjoying time with peers! It’s a visual representation or roadmap of how you envision your best life\, helping you to manifest it. Making a vision board is meant to excite you about the future.  \n\n\n\nAt this workshop\, we will be taking a unique approach to vision boarding by first learning a bit about Feng Shui and the Bagua. The Bagua (or parts of your house or room that have symbolic meaning) will be used as a template for the physical board and placement of images\, words\, and affirmations on it. We will discuss our thoughts and ideas as a group\, list out some of the specifics to organize ourselves\, create our vision board\, and share our final products. Greene to assist families and schools in working with young people to solve problems and build skills\, minimizing challenging behavior.During this meeting\, we will utilize the concerns and problem situations impacting our young people and families described by caregivers during our roundtable discussion towards “Plan B” problem solving sessions. This information will be incorporated into “Skill-Building Solutions” opportunities guided by Dr. Lisa LoPinto on October 16th\, enabling caregivers to gain insight and to practice through roleplay. CPS Resources will also be provided. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the Campus Center Building Atrium (1st floor). \n\n\n\nWe will receive a guided tour by MIC Director\, Dean Harding including the media lab with state-of-the-art media technology\, the sound room with audio setup\, the news desk and green room with advanced camera equipment and learn about SUNY OW college student projects. This volunteer-based organization is dedicated to improving the quality of Long Island’s South Shore bays\, waterways\, and beaches. Members actively carry out this mission through marine debris cleanups\, advocacy efforts\, and STEM-based education programs for schools and universities.Since its founding in 1990\, Operation Splash members have removed more than three million pounds of trash from local waters and their work has influenced environmental legislation aimed at improving marine environments. Through intentional action and advocacy\, Operation Splash believes that the South Shore can be preserved for wildlife and Long Islander’s alike to enjoy for generations to come. Join us for this day of service\, nature\, and fun! \n\n\n\nPlease arrive 12:30/12:45pm as we will begin with a brief presentation in the Operation Splash office at 1:00pm sharp. Greene to assist families and schools in working with young people to solve problems and build skills\, minimizing challenging behavior.During this meeting\, we will listen to the concerns and problem situations impacting young people and families described by caregivers during our roundtable discussion. This information will be incorporated into a “Skill-Building Solutions” session with Dr. Lisa LoPinto on October 16th to guide families and provide opportunities for practice. CPS Resources will be provided. Enjoy community camaraderie and refreshments. The game incorporates character development\, 3D character creation\, painting\, and game play. The goals as we share and learn together are to build confidence\, communications as well as assertiveness skills\, fostering creativity\, and enjoying group dynamics. \n\n\n\nThe activities are flexible and customized for each group. Participant input will also guide the process as they recognize the benefits of uncovering their true voice. Skills revealed during this workshop can translate to daily life.
