Members actively carry out this mission through marine debris cleanups\, advocacy efforts\, and STEM-based education programs for schools and universities.Since its founding in 1990\, Operation Splash members have removed more than three million pounds of trash from local waters and their work has influenced environmental legislation aimed at improving marine environments. Through intentional action and advocacy\, Operation Splash believes that the South Shore can be preserved for wildlife and Long Islander’s alike to enjoy for generations to come. Join us for this day of service\, nature\, and fun! \n\n\n\nPlease arrive by 11:45am at the Operation Splash Office OR the Guy Lombardo Marina (TO BE CONFIRMED). SUMMARY:Our Relationship with Food
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Spencer Davis on Unsplash\n\n\n\nWe are excited to have Debra Spector\, MS\, RDN\, CDN\, who is a Registered and Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist\, with us at Sangha Education this season.  \n\n\n\nDebra will utilize her expertise to teach teens and young adults about “Our Relationship with Food\,” which impacts all of us differently. We will learn to relate to typical vs. disordered eating and how an eating disorder doesn’t “have a look” a certain way. In addition\, helping us to understand that foods aren’t necessarily “good” or “bad”. Our young people will be happy to learn that there is a way to make “all foods fit” and that we can develop our relationship with food. \n\n\n\nFollowing Debra’s workshop\, we will embark on a surprise food sampling to expand our exposure to food with something for everyone (including gluten-free options). We look forward to young people asking questions and sharing their thoughts about what they have learned while enjoying time with peers. More about our guest speaker… Debra Spector has a private practice on Long Island\, NY (est. 1990) where she specializes in eating disorders and other clinical disease states. An important element of her practice is the philosophy of the anti-diet movement and body size acceptance. She is thrilled that her award-winning book: “The Things I’ve Seen People Do With and Without Food” has helped people gain a better understanding of the internal struggles that many who have eating disorders face and she continues to look forward to assisting our local community. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Project Stewardship program\, please register using the “Member” registration below. If you would like to become a member\, please add both the “Project Stewardship Program” and “Member” registration to your cart. If you would simply like to join us for a single session\, please purchase the “Standard” registration below. SUMMARY:Dungeons & Dragons
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Clint Bustrillos on Unsplash\n\n\n\nOur program participants have truly enjoyed playing Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) twice per month. We now offer two to three simultaneous groups per day guided by our Dungeon Masters (DMs) Riley\, Irvin\, and Carlos. And instruction is provided to new players. We work to accommodate the number of teens and young adults interested in joining us. Please be sure to register in advance to help us with planning. \n\n\n\nThese imaginative role-play storytelling adventures take on different formats and themes. The game incorporates character development\, 3D character creation via the Hero Forge app\, and character painting. Game play where young people collaborate with one another helps to build communication and assertiveness skills\, boosts self-confidence\, while increasing planning ability\, problem-solving\, and perspective-taking. All are welcome to participate in individual inclusive community classes! A membership option is also available. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Project Stewardship program\, please register using the “Member” registration below. SUMMARY:Introduction to Historic Malcolm House and the Underground Railroad on Long Island
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Clint Bustrillos on Unsplash\n\n\n\nAt the 250th anniversary of America’s independence from England\, we are happy to introduce Long Island History in Your Own Backyard to the Long Island community! At Sangha Education Center\, we value the opportunity to learn from the wisdom of those who came before us through exposure to our local history. In learning from history\, we can better understand ourselves in the present\, recognizing the forces\, choices\, and circumstances that brought us to this moment in time. \n\n\n\nIn today’s session\, attendees will learn about the strong community bonds that existed in the web of Quaker and African American communities that were involved in abolition and the Underground Railroad on Long Island\, beginning with Jericho. \n\n\n\nMany heroes living on Long Island in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were instrumental in the origins of the abolitionist movement in the northern American colonies. We will learn about some of these individuals who lived on the Jericho Preserve and in Historic Malcolm House. We will share some of their histories\, stories\, and impact that will resonate and inspire us today. \n\n\n\nSangha Education Center will be offering presentations\, activities\, house and walking tours via four modules: Long Island Quakers\, The Underground Railroad on Long Island\, Historic Malcolm House\, and Women & Abolition beginning this Fall 2026. Please join us! \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nContact us for family and group rates! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Member Registration\n \n $0.00\n \n Add to cart\n \n \n \n \n Standard Registration\n \n $25.00\n \n Add to cart
