SUMMARY:Dungeons & Dragons
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Clint Bustrillos on Unsplash\n\n\n\nOur program participants have truly enjoyed playing Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) twice per month. We work to accommodate the number of teens and young adults interested in joining us. Please be sure to register in advance to help us with planning. \n\n\n\nThese imaginative role-play storytelling adventures take on different formats and themes. The game incorporates character development\, 3D character creation via the Hero Forge app\, and character painting. Game play where young people collaborate with one another helps to build communication and assertiveness skills\, boosts self-confidence\, while increasing planning ability\, problem-solving\, and perspective-taking. All are welcome to participate in individual inclusive community classes! A membership option is also available. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Project Stewardship program\, please register using the “Member” registration below. SUMMARY:Positive Psychology for Heart & Mind – Part 2 - POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Katrina Wright on Unsplash\n\n\n\nIn this two-part workshop\, participants will have an opportunity to discuss their experiences\, areas of concern\, and triumphs in managing their personal lives or professional roles over the past few years. This dialogue exchange and interactive presentation will be guided by educator/adjunct professor Christine Keller\, M.A.\, M.S.Ed.\, who will apply concepts in Positive Psychology and the goals and values that enable individuals\, organizations\, schools\, and overall communities to thrive and address burnout and other vicarious trauma. \n\n\n\nPositive Psychology is “a branch of psychology focused on character strengths and behaviors that allow individuals to build a life of meaning and purpose—to move beyond surviving to flourishing” (Martin Seligman\, Author of Learned Optimism\, considered to be the father of the field of Positive Psychology). The purpose\, basic framework\, and methods used in Positive Psychology will be explored\, including an understanding of Learned Optimism vs. Learned Helplessness\, yielding positive outcomes despite circumstances. Concepts in Positive Psychology have also been influenced by eastern philosophy related to Sukkha (happiness) and Dukkha (suffering)\, which will be expanded upon to provide clarity in enabling peace of mind for self and others. \n\n\n\nA take-home exercise will be provided to reflect\, connect\, reduce stress\, and build resilience between sessions. And also to expand compassion and develop insight. Experiences will be discussed during the second session. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nVirtual Event via Zoom. Link will be provided closer to event date. \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Member Registration\n \n $0.00\n \n Add to cart\n \n \n \n \n Standard Registration\n \n $20.00\n \n Add to cart

SUMMARY:Interpersonal Awareness & Skill Building
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Vitaly Gariev on Unsplash\n\n\n\nTeens and young adults are welcome to join us as Sangha staff\, Stephanie Gaglione and Janice Nairne\, guide young people during an important\, interactive workshop as they transition into adulthood. Self and social awareness\, as well as perspective-taking\, are skills many young people can benefit from building. \n\n\n\nThe idea of “independent self-awareness” is the skill of noticing what you feel\, need\, value\, and choose\, before anyone else enters the picture. And\, “collaborative and interpersonal awareness” builds on that skill by adding other people into the equation. Healthy collaboration depends on multiple people showing up with self-knowledge.  \n\n\n\nThese relational skills are imbued in almost everything we do and yet a lot of people lack the skills needed for “conscious & consensual relating”. Conscious & consensual relating comes from listening to others’ boundaries\, adjusting your behavior respectfully\, navigating differences without judgment or expectation\, and co-creating agreements that include and respect all parties involved. Most of the time this stuff is happening behind the scenes\, unspoken and barely acknowledged and understood by each party. But direct teaching of these skills can be helpful. \n\n\n\nThis workshop will break down the foundations of interpersonal relationships so we can show up with more awareness\, understanding\, and empowerment. In this interactive workshop\, we will clarify all of the above through examples\, supportive worksheets related to boundaries and consent\, interactive exercises including guided Dowell work for physical awareness\, active listening for reciprocal assertive and receptive roles\, and partnering to practice shared agreements. These important and fun activities will help to train the brain in ways that can be applied to real-life scenarios. \n\n\n\nPlease join us for this important event\, where we can come together in support of one another and enhance our social understanding in personal\, educational\, and professional settings and relationships. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Project Stewardship program\, please register using the “Member” registration below. SUMMARY:Dungeons & Dragons – 3D Character Painting & Game Play
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Clint Bustrillos on Unsplash\n\n\n\nOur program participants have truly enjoyed playing Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) twice per month. We now offer two to three simultaneous groups per day guided by our Dungeon Masters (DMs) Riley\, Irvin\, and Carlos. And instruction is provided to new players. We work to accommodate the number of teens and young adults interested in joining us. All are welcome to participate in individual inclusive community classes! A membership option is also available. \n\n\n\nDuring this session\, we will paint the 3D digital characters that we created in the last session through the Hero Forge app. Then proceed to D&D game play. For anyone unable to attend our last session\, you can create your 3D allies or minions\, pets\, and mounts while others are painting. And can paint yours during the following session. Please bring your $8 Hero Forge processing fee. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Project Stewardship program\, please register using the “Member” registration below. SUMMARY:Sangha Nature-Art Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Cemrecan Yurtman on Unsplash\n\n\n\nWe are excited to announce that the Bellmore Memorial Library has offered us the opportunity to hold a Sangha Nature-Art Exhibit during the full month of March 2026\, demonstrating nature and culture with a heart-centered focus.  \n\n\n\nYoung people who participate at Sangha Education Center will be hosting this Opening Reception to introduce the artwork they have created during our Summer at the Sangha\, Project Stewardship\, and Civic Mentoring programs. A presentation about neurodiversity and a bit about Sangha will be presented by one of our participants. Paintings and drawings will be framed for viewing around the community room from March through April. Additional three-dimensional art will be on display at the Opening Reception. \n\n\n\nWe invite the Long Island community to join us\, meet some of the artists\, learn about others through their biographies\, and support our teens and young adults. You will be inspired by the talent our young people possess! Their understanding of the world has led to many creative projects through our primary program pillars of Nature\, History\, and the Arts\, where their strengths are naturally cultivated while anxiety is minimized. Enjoy community camaraderie and refreshments. \n\n\n\nOur 501c3 non-profit organization has created “A Place of Wonder” that we would like to share with the Long Island community. Our “whole-learner” philosophy is a model that everyone can follow\, leading to positive outcomes for all involved. \n\n\n\nThis event is free for the community and will be a skill-building experience for our teens and young adults. \n\n\n\nPlease consider donating to help support our young people and the programs offered at Sangha! \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Member Registration\n \n $0.00\n \n Add to cart\n \n \n \n \n Donation Registration\n \n $20.00\n \n Add to cart\n \n\n\nLocation

SUMMARY:Rock & Roll Painting and Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Hoàng Anh Nguyễn on Unsplash \n\n\n\nTonight\, we will create a rainbow of colors to roll rocks and create beautiful patterns in addition to stamping or sketching unique designs to the sound of Rock & Roll music [not loud – and we also have a “quiet room”]. Our rock creations can decorate our Sangha gardens and/or participants may take rocks home. In addition\, we will repaint the large rocks\, which are the centerpiece of our Medicine Wheel Garden (red\, yellow\, white\, and black) and learn about their symbolic meaning in specific Native American cultures\, reflecting aspects of human nature told through storytelling and song. Examples of ancient music will be connected to modern lyrics and sounds. Enjoy this festive and fun evening with peers. SUMMARY:Dungeons & Dragons
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Clint Bustrillos on Unsplash\n\n\n\nOur program participants have truly enjoyed our monthly Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) events which were expanded to twice per month in 2024. In addition\, we offer two-three simultaneous groups per session with Dungeon Masters (DMs) Riley and Irvin; now introducing DM Carlos. We work to accommodate the number of teens and young adults interested in joining us. Please be sure to register in advance to help us with planning. \n\n\n\nThese imaginative role-play storytelling adventures take on different formats and themes. The game incorporates character development\, 3D character creation\, painting\, and game play. Game play where young people collaborate with one another helps to build social-communication and assertiveness skills\, boosts self-confidence\, while increasing planning\, problem solving and perspective-taking. All are welcome to participate and have fun with peers! \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Project Stewardship program\, please register using the “Member” registration below. SUMMARY:Animals of the World
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Ken Okum on Unsplash\n\n\n\nOur Project Stewardship young adult group will embark on an outing to Parrots of the World where owner\, Mark Morrone has been importing aquatic sea life\, birds\, mammals\, and reptiles from Central and South America\, Africa\, and Indonesia since 1978. In time\, Mark began breeding birds and working with bird breeders in the United States. Now a large portion of their business is to export birds\, mammals and reptiles born here to other countries in the world as far away as Japan\, Chile and Denmark as pets for people to enjoy. We will explore this wonderful “pet shop” and meet Mark. The outing will be followed by refreshments at Sugarberry\, a bakery/coffee shop that is two doors down for camaraderie and conversation. Parents should drop off at Parrots of the World and pick up at Sugarberry (there is parking and an entrance in back\, if needed). \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nIf you are already a member of our Project Stewardship program\, please register using the “Member” registration below.
